As the Peoples Democratic Party gets set to conduct her ward congresses tomorrow, November 24, 2014, after the cancellation of the November 1, 2014 congresses, mired in controversy, www.calitown.com field sources say across the length and breadth of the state, party faithfuls are getting set for a make or break process that has the trappings of a war.
In Obudu, North of CR, sources say band of youths are presently being recruited by pro-Imoke politicians eager to make up for their perceived failure in the cancelled congress. Particularly, a serving House of Assembly member has been seen mobilising youths for that purpose. At press time, pockets of youths were sighted at various locations in Obudu town, perfecting strategies for the exercise. A former federal legislator has also been fingered as one of those massively mobilising youths for the exercise. “You know these people were thrashed thoroughly in the last exercise and a lot of people within the PDP family tongue lashed them, so this could be their response and I hope it doesn’t spell doom for the youth and their mentors”, one source said.
Meanwhile, a stakeholders meeting called by state governor, Liyel Imoke is going on as we file this story. Insider sources have just informed www.calitown.com from inside the meeting that Imoke is leading the charge for the conduct of a state-wide ward congress that should favour his faction of the party, after the humiliation that was the last exercise. “It is a political battle for the soul of CR and Imoke must play a critical role”, a text sent to www.calitown.com from inside the meeting, said.
More details shortly.
