John Owan Enoh, the senator representing the Cross River Central Senatorial district in Nigeria’s senate, has declared that, contrary to the view widely held by persons in CRS and beyond, he has no “interest to contest the Cross River State gubernatorial election in 2019.”
Owan Enoh who spoke through a public release signed by his public relations consultant, Missang Oyama, directly responded to a poster making the rounds in the social media to the effect that he will run for governor.
His statement came clear that “the message on the said poster is curiously misleading and utterly unconscionable to warrant any serious attention by any discerning mind in Cross River State and beyond. The Senator is not new to electoral contest and he understands the rudiments of information dissemination with respect to making his political aspirations known at any given time … for the teeming supporters, associates and friends of the distinguished Senator representing Cross River Central District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, we decided to offer this disclaimer.”
“We wish to place on record the fact that the news reverberating in the social media about the Senator’s declaration of interest to contest for the office of the governor of Cross River State does not have his private and official endorsement at the moment. We therefore urge our people to discountenance the news and discard the message on the poster. However, Senator John Owan Enoh is not unmindful of his constitutional right to vie for the Office of the Governor of Cross River State if by stroke of providence he is prompted to offer himself to serve Cross Riverians at that level”, the statement went on to say.
This statememt seemingly takes the steam off serious speculations that Enoh will lock horns with state governor, Ben Ayade, for the number one seat in CRS.
