Bassey Edet Otu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State, according to results so far released by the Returning Officer for Cross River State, Prof Teddy Adias, on behalf of INEC, won the gubernatorial election with 258,619 votes, secured in 15 LGAs, over PDP’s Sandy Onor, who polled 179,636 votes from three LGAs, www.calitown.com can authoritatively reveal.
Otu won in Yala, Calabar Municipal, Calabar South, Obudu, Yakurr, Akpabuyo, Biase, Etung, Odukpani, Bakassi, Obubra and Abi.
His closest rival Sandy Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, won in three local government areas. Onor won in Ikom, Ogoja and Bekwarra.
Results from the remaining local government areas of Obanliku, Boki and Akamkpa, were expected as collation was suspended till morning.
There are 18 local government areas in Cross River State and political watchers have already agreed that the results reflect a clear victory for Otu and the APC.
