Matthew Achigbe was today, Tuesday, August 28, 2018, sworn in as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Cross River State, in a ceremony presided over by the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomole, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Achigbe’s swearing-in, appears to be another attempt by the APC in the state to legalise its executive in the run in to next year’s general elections. But political observers believe the Achigbe-led exco may still have a mountain to climb as the Etim John-led exco, said to be loyal to Niger Delta Affairs Minister, Usani Usani, is wrestling the newly sworn-in exco from a legal point, www.calitown.com can reveal.
At the time of filing this report, our reporter is Abuja, was in possession of a document: Suit No: FHC/BW/CV/106/2018, titled, “Notice of Consequence of Disobedience to Order of Court” and dated August 28, 2018, where the claimants, Sylvester Obaji, Eugenia Takon and Charles Asim want the defendants, Adams Oshiomole, Mai Bala Buni, APC National Secretary and Emma Ihediro, APC National Organising Secretary, notified that, unless they “…obey the directives contained in the Order, attached hereto, you will be guilty of contempt of Court and …will be liable to be committed to prison”.
“Etim John was gallivanting all over the national secretariat; it will not help his cause and that of his bosses. While he wanted Achigbe’s swearing-in stalled, reason prevailed and our national chairman towed the right path. Those of you who know Etim John should advice him to queue here and work for the success of the party”, one front line APC member, told www.calitown.com. We were unable to speak with Etim John or the claimants at press time.
