The Ofutop community in Ikom Local Government Area is happy that Nigeria’s Supreme Court revalidated the mandate given to the Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, to govern the state.
At a civic reception held in honour of Ofutop sons and daughters in the Ben Ayade administration, Patrick E. Eyam, National President, Ekpokpa Development Association, said the community was happy that God has demonstrated through the court judgement that their votes cast in favour of the governor were not something done in vain.
They also thanked God for the successes so far recorded by the member representing them in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Fred Osim and for appointing three of their daughters, Alice Ekawu, Helen Ubom and Mary Akpet, commissioner and permanent secretaries, respectively.
On the issue of roads in the area, the Ofutop community appealed for extension of rural roads to largely remote areas that are hardly accessible during the rainy season.
The honourees, while responding said they were humbled by the honour done them and promised to justify the confidence reposed in them.
The well attended occasion was chaired by the former Accountant General of Cross River State, Henry O. Ojogu.
