Isaac Eteng, the 28 year old, who in the wee hours of today, won the Mr. Leboku contest in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area, has exclusively informed www.calitown.com that he has plans to make Yakurr people at home and in the diaspora, connect and be in constant and interface, so that the values those in the diaspora pass on to their children, will not push aside core Yakurr values.
He was particular that while most tribes have fashioned a way to seamlessly pass down core values that amplify their identity, the Yakurr nation has considerably made no articulate efforts to do same. This he submitted has made it difficult for most Yakurr young sons and daughters to ease into Yakurr with minimal difficulties. He hopes to unfold his package in the days ahead.
On what winning the contest means to him, Eteng said “it means everything to me because it is what I have always wanted to do. I tried last year, came very close to winning, but it wasn’t the appointed time. Now I have won and l qm grateful to God. I dedicate this victory to my Mum and my late Dad, who is seeing this happen from heaven.”
The Marine Geology graduate from the University of Calabar, went philosophical when asked to say a word or two to youths in the area. “Believe, desire, work hard and success will manifest”, Isaac concluded.
