A pictured document, listing Sandy Ojang Onor, Walter Iteky Ajogbor, Blessing Otobha Egbara, Bassey Eko Ewa and Wilfred Okpo Usani as the five aspirants to have all been cleared by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to contest the Cross River Central Senatorial district primaries of the party, appears to have unsettled several other aspirants, their followers and political workers.
The document signed by Austin Akobundu, a retired Colonel and National Organising Secretary of the PDP, was entered on September 30, 2018 and entry subsequently stamped and authenticated today, October 2, 2018, before its wide circulation. Amazingly, the document made no reference to a pool of aspirants for this position who were touted as front runners.
But when www.calitown.com made high level inquiries inside the PDP in Calabar and Abuja, we were informed that only when the team from Abuja, with the mandate to conduct the primaries arrives, will the document currently making the rounds be ascertained. At press time, we authoritatively confirmed that the five aspirants listed in the document are in Ikom for the primaries holding there.
