Stephen Odey, declared winner of last Saturday’s PDP primaries for the vacant Cross River North senatorial seat, has exclusively told www.calitown.com that, “Jarigbe cannot withstand me in CR North. I am not a street boy, I am somebody that the people of CR North know is a material”
Odey’s comments were in reaction to a story published by www.calitown.com to the effect that four persons, Odey and Jarigbe Agom of the PDP as well as Joe Agi and Zana Akpagu of the APC, were contending for the seat, after the outcome of APC and PDP primaries appear shrouded in controversies.
“I am so sad that this country is going the way it is…only God knows why anybody will want to misinform people that Jarigbe won the election. When the process was ongoing and Jarigbe saw that he was going to be defeated, he stood up and left. He then went to Gomarah Hotel in Ogoja and declared himself winner and people are writing stories that Jarigbe was declared winner. Where? I am giving you the facts. When peple started voting, he realized that he was going to be defeated, he left and the panel openly declared the result…I can show you video evidence of how the whole process went, so why should journalists bring in someone who was not declared the winner at all? Where was he declared?”
He explained further that, “I sat there, Jarigbe sat there and when we moved in delegates. The electoral panel headed by Hon. Olorogun Talib and Chuks Akwiti, sent in by the PDP National Headquarters, oversaw the whole exercise and they are the panel recognized to come and conduct this primary election. Those who are reporting otherwise are just trying to sell their respective media content. I expect congratulations from you people, whether you like me or not.”
Jarigbe Agom has responded by advising; “All my supporters should remain calm. The decision of the NWC of the Party did not come as a surprise. It is a game, not war”.
