John Owan Enoh, gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State, has maintained that “it is not true that anybody’s name has replaced my name (as the APC gubernatorial candidate)and it is not about to happen”.
Enoh disclosed this late Sunday evening in Calabar, CRS, before the commencement of a stakeholders meeting of the APC in Calabar. He further disclosed that “in the last couple of days, I have been inundated by calls; some people even crying over the phone and telling me that they have been told that my name has been replaced by another person’s name, this of course is not true”.
This disclosure www.calitown.com can say, appears to be a direct response to widely circulated information that Enoh’s candidature has been set aside by the decision of an Abuja High Court in favour of Niger Delta Affairs minister, Usani Uguru Usani, who has legally challenged the APC’s National Working Committee, NWC’s decision to recognise Enoh as the candidate of the APC. Enoh at this evening’s meeting also announced former CRS Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chairman, Ekpo Okon, as his running mate.
While addressing the stakeholders, Ekpo Okon said “the confidence in my principal is because he is determined and it is possible that he will win. All of you that I see here have become the instruments to make a difference in our state. Look at the faces here and these are the faces that I consider as the foot soldiers that have been doing it in the past. They are so many others who are not here with us, I can however assure you that they will come. We must be ready”, a speech that was greeted with thunderous applause.
