Apart from the fact that Nigeria’s Super Eagles command a loyal fan base in a country where football is a ‘religion’, this afternoon’s encounter against the Flames of Malawi, slated for the U. J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, Cross River State, will for sure draw a large crowd and the reason is not far fetched.
Calitown.com can reveal that state governor, Liyel Imoke, has directed that a price slash be effected for popular side tickets to avail more people the opportunity of getting behind the national team. Accordingly, fans will pay N500 for popular side tickets, down from the initial N1,000, advertised on several media.
Most fans spoken to are happy that Imoke has brought down the price so that more of them can go cheer the Eagles to victory. Ekeng Bassey, a resident, told calitown.com that, “we hope too that the Eagles will respond by giving the Malawian team a sound thrashing”.
