Stephen Odey, Chairman, State Universal Education Board, Cross River State, has exclusively informed www.calitown.com that he did not commission and authorize anybody to take pictures of the ongoing recruitment of teachers exercise in the state and post same on social media.
The Chairman who spoke on the heels of the uproar generated on social media by pictures showing several of the candidates who came to be interviewed for selection, unable to write, maintained that he has no interest in this kind of showmanship but would rather concentrate on doing his job and achieve results in the end.
Pressed to comment on the poor showing of some of the candidates, Odey came clear that, “when we say most of this candidates don’t know what to do, people say we are wicked and don’t want to employ their friends and relatives. How do you offer employment to people who went to the university but come here and cannot write literature review. This exercise is actually the first time we are asking that people demonstrate practical capacity before we employ and what we have so far seen is something for another day”.
Collins Abang, who strings with www.calitown.com and reports from Ikom, Cross River Central, wrote in that, “several of the people I saw, had no business coming for the exercise. Those in this category demonstrated appalling deficiencies; some could not legibly write on the board provided, some couldn’t even spell their names correctly and still they were some who could not express themselves in English. What this exercise appears to have thrown up, should help the SUBEB team make decisions that will help us rescue the falling standard of education in Cross River State”.
Odey, assured www.calitown.com that he will do his best at this exercise, for the good of the state and mankind.
