George Abang Ekpungu, the Cross River State Commissioner for New Cities Development says what Hillary Bisong, the member representing Boki State Constituency II, Central Senatorial district in Cross River State has achieved in six months is what others who have represented the constituency in the past were unable to do in 18 years, www.calitown.com can report.
Ekpungu who spoke at a well attended Town Hall meeting this past Saturday, December 12, 2015, put together by Bisong in Okundi, Boki LGA, heaped high praise on the legislator for “organizing a meeting to connect with his constituents and give account of his stewardship so far…it has never happened in the political history of this constituency”.
When he spoke, Bisong informed his constituents that in six months he has sponsored four bills and co-sponsored eight, while also moving four motions on the floor of the House. To further drive home the reason behind the Town Hall meeting, Bisong who also chairs the Citizens Legislative Agency Project, CLAP, of the 8th Legislative Assembly, informed that it has become necessary to go back to his constituents and interface with them so that problems in the constituency can better be identified and properly articulated.
He came clear that in constituting a local advisory committee, made up of elders in the constituency, to advise and guide him in the discharge of his legislative functions, he understands the role this committee can play in making his tenure in the House successful.
There was higher praise for the legislator, as he formally opened a three-bedroom apartment as his constituency office, gave out motorcycles, gift items and financial assistance to the tune of eight million naira.
Present at the occasion was Tina Agbor, Secretary to the Cross River State Government, former legislators from the constituency, traditional rulers and other distinguished constituents.
