Unfolding investigations by www.calitown.com show that officials of the Cross River State Government assigned to conduct the ongoing Civil Service recruitment written interview, have perfected plans to obtain cash from innocent applicants under circumstances that appear largely questionable.
At the Ugep Centre, in Yakurr Local Government Area, Central Cross River, sources who anonymously volunteered information, for fear of being victimized, said the applicants who were made to buy Score Sheets at N1,000 each, on Monday, January 9, 2023, at the interview venue, were informed that the score sheets would be used to invite them into the interview hall today, Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
However, as at press time, 9:00 a.m this morning, (Tuesday, January 10, 2023) when the applicants arrived the interview venue, the same officials are again demanding for the payment of an additional fee for an unspecified sub-head from the large pool of applicants before they could be allowed to write the interview.
“Please, do the approximate calculations; more than one thousand applicants paying a thousand naira each, in cash, to handpicked government agents. This exercise has been turned into a well thought scam and what is happening here is being replicated in all other centres. If you people have access to the governor of our state, tell him we are being robbed”, another confidential source maintained to us.
Two attempts, yesterday and before press time today, to speak with Ebe Idagwu, who is head of the team on ground in Yakurr, have so far proven impossible with Idagwu refusing to acknowledge a Whatsapp communication initiated by www.calitown.com Team Lead.
