Michael Nku Abuo, an aide to Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, says it is important that the governor reshuffles his cabinet to ensure that most non performing and underperforming members of the cabinet make way for people who can come in and help the governor succeed.
Abuo, Ayade’s Special Assistant on Student Affairs and Youth Mobilization, insisted on local radio station, HIT 95.9 FM, early this morning that, “…we know many of these people are not performing and my boss, the governor of Cross River State, who knows what he wants to achieve will have to remove these category of persons and put round pegs in round holes so that his promises to all of us will see the light of day”. Pressed to make a list of those appointed, who have performed below par, Abuo sounded philosophical by submitting clearly that “the people concerned know their themselves and I know my boss knows them too”.
On the widely reported assault of the Special Assistant by students who felt he short changed them during activities organised to welcome Gov. Ayade to the state, he maintains, “only N300, 000 (three hundred thousand naira) was given to me, to cover all our expenses. Banners were made, T-shirts were printed, transport costs to and from the venue as well as entertainment and other things were in our expenses. I think those persons who wanted to make trouble felt I should hand all the money to them without fulfilling the purpose for disbursement. I can even say that if I am saddled with this kind of responsibility again and given this kind of money, I will shy away from the responsibility because the money was not even enough while a hate media campaign is being sponsored against me”. He fell short of fingering the Commissioner for Youths and Sports in the state, Asu Okang, for being behind the unfortunate campaign.
