Umana Okon Umana, former Secretary to the State Government in neighbouring Akwa Ibom State, tops an ignoble list of persons believed to have been responsible for the botched All Progressive Congress, APC, congress in Cross River State, www.calitown.com can reveal.
Umana’s Sports Utility Vehicle, SUV, was fingered by Okoi Obono-Obla, President Buhari’s aide, as the SUV where materials meant for the congress were hidden, but later found after a manhunt, at the premises of Dannic Hotels, Ekorinim, Calabar. Most of the materials we gathered, had been tampered with. The intention, www.calitown.com also gathered was to submit to the Stanley Ezieke led committee, a list of handpicked persons to do the bidding of Niger Delta minister, Usani Usani.
John Owan Enoh, the senator representing C’River Central Senatorial district in Nigeria’s Senate, angered by the machinations on the ground, lamented that a “party with excellent potentials” must not allow a few persons put together by whoever is in Abuja and dispatched to CRS “to do the hatchet job” of destroying the APC in CRS.
Similarly, Cletus Obun, a chieftain of the party has declared publicly that the APC in CRS is under siege. “As we stand, we are under siege. A party of change is being infiltrated by saboteurs whose aim is to ensure that CRS knows no peace. We are dealing with … a bastardized system. These congresses will stand by our own estimation to have cancelled out itself without any further comment”, he maintained.
Our independent investigations revealed again that documents discovered in Umana’s SUV and custodied by the APC’s State Organising Secretary, had congress venues purportedly chosen and written down without any form of input and consultations with stake holders. The police had to be invited in to quell what would have been a bloodbath. Umana was not available at press time, to state his position.
