Calitown.com can reveal that the constant rains in Calabar, in the last 48 hours which have caused extensive flooding in several parts of the town, will intensify in the next day or two and may visit further damage on flood prone areas in the Cross River State capital, the weather forecast says.
The forecast monitored by calitown.com show that, for today Friday, August 8 and tomorrow August 9, 2013, scattered showers, thunderstorms and flash floodings with wind speed at 4km/h, will be the city’s lot. Temperatures will hover around 21¤ and 22¤ with only four hours of slim sunshine in 24 hours. The situation may not change on Sunday as torrential rains will further increase the chances of flooding.
Residents living in flood prone areas are therefore advised to take precautions to minimise damage to lives and property as even the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NIMET, has consistently warned of the increased volume of rainfall expected in Calabar, this year.
