The Cross River State Government, CRSG, will henceforth adopt very stringent measures to stem further degeneration of peace at the age long land dispute between Usumutong and Ediba communities of Bahumono Clan, Abi Local Government Area.
Deputy Governor, Ivara Esu, made government’s position known at a meeting with chiefs, clan heads and leaders of thought of the two communities recently in his office. Esu stressed that, no responsible government will fold its arms and tolerate lawlessness, adding that, the Ayade administration is in a hurry to eradicate poverty and fast-track development in the state and warned against distraction by anyone or group of persons.
He directed the office of the Surveyor-General of the state to acquire land in dispute for government projects that may be deemed fit and warned all involved in the area to desist forthwith from fomenting trouble or face the full wrath of the law.
Esu insisted that Bahumono people are peaceful and should not be the ones to distract government from its galloping strides in developing the state to the settlement of communal crisis and warned against further encroachment by any individual or group of people, while calling on the chiefs and leaders of thought to entrench rich traditional values inherited from forefathers and parents to discourage their wards from destruction.
