Residents of the Cross River State Property Development Investment Limited (CROSPIL) Estate, Akpabuyo, have been assured of the provision of basic amenities to make life more meaningful within the estate.
The assurance was given by the Managing Director of CROSPIL, Enyi Ben Eboh, when he held an interactive session with the residents at the Liyel Imoke Square of the Estate.
Eboh at the session, promised to release lawn mowers from his office, as an interim measure for the maintenance of the common green area of the estate. Beside releasing the lawn slashers, he also promised to liaise with the Cross River State Water Board Ltd. for the restoration of water supply to the estate which has been without water supply since April 2013.
On the provision of parameter fencing around the estate to forestall trespassing and encroachment, he said the project was capital intensive but, promised however, to present the matter before the State government, considering the fact that, the parameter fencing would not only prevent the adjoining communities from trespassing, but would also enhance the safety and security of lives and property at the estate. He, however, cautioned residents against the erection of additional structures to the houses without the approval of CROSPIL noting that, every addition must conform with the approved building design in order to enhance the aesthetics of the estate.
Earlier, in a welcome address, the Chairman of CROSSPIL Estate Residents’ Association (CRERA), Emmanuel Odibu, assured Eboh of the residents’ readiness to partner with CROSPIL in order to make the estate a model in the State and in the Country. He enumerated the challenges facing the residents to include lack of water, porous nature of the estate, lack of recreational facilities such as multi-purpose hall for meetings, indoor and outdoor games, as well as shopping mall.
On sanitation, Odibu said the management of the estate has engaged casual workers to evacuate two sites of refuse disposal, but pointed out that the method is not only environmentally unfriendly, but possess health hazard to residents, particularly house that are located near the dumps sites. He therefore, appealed to the MD to use his good office to make refuse dumps available at strategic points within the estate, assuring that residents would be ready to pay for evacuation of refuse, should any refuse evacuation agency or firm decides to extend its services to the estate.
