A Cross Riverian, Ofem Obor Eteng, yesterday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, won a Lexus 300 Jeep in the raffle draw organized by members of De Norsemen Kclub International, a socio-cultural organization, as she ended her week-long converge held at the Watbridge Hotel & Suites, Uyo.
The visibly elated father of new born twins told www.calitown.com that “I was quite animated when the young boy picked from the crowd stepped on the stage to pick the winning ticket – I simply with faith told God to direct the little boy’s hand to my ticket and it happened. I can only thank God. Sincerely, while a lot of people have struggled this year, God blessed me with twins and now this car. I spent a thousand naira on the ticket, look at God rewarded me.” Continuing, he was full of appreciation to the International President of the organization, Adeshola Giwa, a chief, and members at home and abroad for gifting him the platform on which he won the car.
At the public lecture organized at the event, Chief Host and International President of De Norsemen Kclub, Adeshola Giwa, commended members for taking pains to travel from outside and within the country for their annual coming together, imploring members to strive and live above board as they work at defending their professional classifications wherever they find themselves. Admitting that times are presently globally tough but added he was sure that true Norsemen that they are, they will survive the pandemic striken economies in all the places they find themselves.
Aniekeme Aniefiok Uwah, medical doctor and National Publicity Secretary, Nigeria Medical Association who spoke on the converge theme, “Navigating Through The Storms Of The Covid-19 Pandemic: Implications on the Nigerian Economy & Health Sector”, maintained that the signs are all with us that the nation’s economy and health sector are on a bad patch, no thanks to the pandemic.
Kennedy Akwaowo, converge Local Organizing Committee Chairman, used the occasion to thank all members and their families for honouring the host state with the mammoth crowd at the converge and prayed that the same God who oversaw the success of this event, will grant all, journey mercies.
The annual event holds in December and provides the organization and members an opportunity to interact. The next event will hold next year in Owerri, Imo State, after the state won hosting rights.
