While the Labour Party in Cross River State says it is a “credible alternative” in the face of the political antics of the Peoples Democratic Party, www.calitown.com can report that a major crisis is brewing in the party as some members of the State Working Committee, SWC, this afternoon were daggers drawn with the State Chairman of the party, Austin Ibok.
The SWC members led by Bassey Ekpo Bassey and Danny Ansa Eno are said to have accosted the party chairman, claiming he has done very little in letting them in on his activities. Particularly, sources are insisting that the SWC members are miffed that Ibok has kept his activities under wraps, leaving them out of the scheme of things as it concerns the party. “You can imagine that even when he travels to Abuja to fine tune certain aspects of what should be an all-embracing political process, we are left in the dark”, one source maintains.
Recall that in the face of recent political events in CRS, prominent PDP faithfuls who are clearly aggrieved have moved over to the Labour Party, bent on using that platform to actualise their political ambitions. An insider is insisting that unless Ibok comes clean, “those of us who have supported him will make things extremely difficult for him. How can he want to play over our intelligence?”.
Repeated attempts by www.calitown.com to speak with Ibok on the matter yielded nothing as he either ignored calls or showed he was busy, at the time of going to press.
