We can reliably inform that businessman and philanthropist, Peter Akpanke, has, after weeks of speculations, declared his intention to contest elections to Nigeria’s House of Representatives.
Late Wednesday evening, in a live transmitted broadcast across social media platforms, monitored by www.calitown.com, Akpanke came clear that he was declaring his intention “to contest elections into the House for the Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency.”
“I offer myself at this crucial time after a conscious and objective assessment of my experience, capacity and capability. This will ideally be brought to bear on the representation and leadership of our constituency, so that we will be properly positioned to appropriate the desired dividends of democracy, which we overwhelmingly desire and deserve as a people.”
He went on to say that: “If you, my people, find me worthy and entrust me with our mandate, I pledge to serve you with utmost commitment. I am confident that I am no stranger to all of you. In all the privileges I have ever had, it is on record that I have never been distant from you my people. We have always been together as destiny partners sharing in our opportunities and confronting our challenges. If I could be so available to my people as a private citizen, we can only imagine the glory that awaits our constituency when our cause becomes my schedule of duty. “
Largely believed to have a broad appeal in the Federal Constituency, Akpanke will run on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
