The Cross River State Government says its approval of the state’s participation in the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state is for the benefit of 10, 000 Cross Riverians.
Mike Nku Abuo, Coordinator of the scheme in Cross River State, who spoke to www.calitown.com on the heels of a scheduled sensitization and stakeholders meeting, informed through a written statement that ”to ensure activation of the scheme, one to three hectares of land will be allocated to beneficiaries, cleared and ready for planting. The CBN will afterwards provide products and services for cultivation.”
While the scheme offers a non interest loan, Abuo pointed out that each local government in the state will as a participation requirement, make available 1500 hectares of land for the scheme’s execution. For those in the Southern Senatorial District of the state where land is limited, exceptions have been made that will encourage several participants there to go into poultry farming.
Meanwhile, a 21-member Project Monitoring Team as well as LGA Coordinators have been listed by the state government for this exercise, with Abuo at the head of the team, we were further informed.
The scheme will be launched in the state on August 24, 2020, preceded by sensitization and awareness visits across the 18 LGA .
