Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade has directed the Cross River State Sports Commission to ensure that before the World Cup in Russia commences on June 15, 2018, the free World Cup viewing centre at the U. J. Esuene stadium, must be up and running.
While serious clearing of debris to create space for the viewing centre has reached an advanced stage, www.calitown.com can disclose that the acquisition of more than two thousand seats, projectors, wide viewing screens and security at the stadium, has all been taken care of.
Orok Otu Duke, Chairman of the CRS Sports Commission, who made this disclosure at the U. J. Esuene stadium, said the governor’s gesture is in line with his commitment to ensure that Cross Riverians and other people living in the state do not miss the showpiece event for any reason.
On the completion of on-going projects at the stadium, Duke reiterated that the restaurant, volleyball court, weightlifting and wrestling halls are all nearing completion. The restaurant he particularly disclosed, will have services dedicated to providing services to sports men and women. “A nutritionist will be in the restaurant to help provide the right kind of food for our athletes. Thank God too that one of the telecommunications outfit in the country is building us a world class medical facility in the stadium”, he added. Duke later conducted newsmen round the wrestling hall under construction.
