B-R-E-A-K-I-N-G: LG Poll Go Ahead In CR As APC Promises Return To Court

On the heels of assurances given calitown.com this morning by the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission chairman, Patrick Otu that the local council polls in the state “has not been cancelled” and that those who purport it has been cancelled “may be talking about another election”, calitown.com can indeed report that the election is taking place across the state, even concluded in some parts.

Monitored reports however indicate that turn out was at an all time low as most places endured a voter apathy that is below par. Results may start trickling in, in the next couple of hours.

Meanwhile, counsel to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Okoi Obono-Obla, has this afternoon in an online reaction described the election as “an orgy of illegalities”, promising that “the APC legal team will from Monday, the 23rd September, 2013, take bold steps through the invocation of the Penal High Jurisdiction of the High Court” seek “to nullify the … election purportedly held in defiance of the authority and integrity of the High Court.”

  1. It is really confusing, I really do not understand why other poloitical parties cannot take part in elections, even if they registered late. In democracy everybody should be allowed to participate, irrespective of political orientation. How would they declare a victor when some sectns of the polity did not have a fair representation?
