Contrary to the view widely expressed that Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade will in the no distant future abandon the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC, the member representing Calabar/Odukpani Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Eta Mbora, has informed www.calitown.com that Ayade’s switch to the APC is not foreseeable either now or later.
Mbora who spoke to www.caitown.com at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport in Calabar, early Sunday afternoon while waiting to board a flight to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, maintained that those who believe Ayade will move to the APC are yet to realize that the governor is presently focused on delivering democratic dividends to the state and does not even consider a switch to the APC as something that should occupy the front burner.
Pointed to the fact that Ayade has been romancing with APC’s Muhammadu Buhari, the legislator came clear that Buhari is Nigeria’s President and not President of APC, adding further that what the Cross River State governor is doing with Buhari is fostering a relationship that will benefit the state in the long run. “You cannot expect our governor to turn his back on the President, he must work with him for the good of the state in particular and Nigeria in general”, Mbora said.
The legislator while responding to further questions submitted that those who have defected to the APC from the PDP have mostly been propelled by the pursuit of personal ambitions especially where decisions taken at the party level have not been bent to accommodate them. He reminded those who seem to have fallen out of favour with the PDP that defecting only goes to show that they have issues with bending backwards and abiding by thDP.
