APC vs. CROSIEC: Court Rules On Friday

The High Court of Cross River State of Nigeria, Calabar Division presided over by Honourable Justice Ofem Ikpi Ofem has today, taken arguments concerning the Notice of Preliminary Objection filed by the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission, CROSIEC, challenging the jurisdiction of the Court to hear and determine the suit filed by the APC seeking a declaration that by virtue of Section 13( 2) of the CROSIEC Law, 2004, CROSIEC has incidental power to grant extension of time to APC nominate its candidates for the Local Government Elections scheduled for 21/9/2013 in the State.
After The Attorney General of Cross River State, Mr. Attah Ochike representing CROSIEC adopted its Written Address in support of the Notice of Preliminary Objection, Okoi Obono-Obla, Counsel to APC adopted his own Written Address and invited the Court to dismiss the Notice of Preliminary objection. The Court then adjourned the matter to Friday, 21/9/2013 for ruling.
