On the “Hit Breakfast Show” on local FM station, HIT 95.9 FM, Cross River State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Edim Inok, has submitted that all those who have pitched tents with the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state are members of the PDP who left the PDP out of anger because the party before now, threw up candidates that were not the choice of the people.
While Inok came short of picking the candidature of the senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District in Nigeria’s senate, Gershom Bassey as a clear case, he was of the opinion that the party was working to ensure that it doesn’t disintegrate again because of the imposition of candidates, against the wishes of the people.
On the leadership crisis at the national level, Inok declined to make comments, insisting that since the matter was in court, it was out of place for him to comment, electing instead to wait for the decision of the courts on the matter. He was however of the opinion that the matter will soon be settled and the party will return to power at the central.
One caller on the programme who said he is a PDP member however doubted the winning ability of the party in the state. “I am not convinced that our party will win in the state especially now that our governor seems confused”. He was cautioned by the presenters and asked to water down the tone of his submission.
