The Etono Central Community in Biase Local Government Area, Cross River South, pulled all the stops recently and lavishly celebrated ace comedian, Aya Kanu Aya, better known as MC Mbakara, this past yuletide season, conferring on him the traditional chieftaincy title of “Onun Igbobin IPA I”

When www.calitown.com spoke with the comedian shortly after the conferment, Mbakara explained that the title effectively makes him the first chief in diaspora of “Igbobin” an elitist cultural dance in Etono Central. “This title means a lot to me and it has challenged me to help promote my culture both locally and internationally. I will try to make the dance and the dancers more visible through my online platforms, which in turn can make the rural dancers travel to various parts of the world. I am a village boy and the community knows I am a proud citizen of Etono Central Community in Biase LGA, Cross River State. I feel very honoured” a very elated MC Mbakara said.

Shortly before the conferment proper, Mbakara gifted his father a Sports Utility Vehicle, SUV, to celebrate his 66th birthday. “My Dad has never celebrated his birthday since he was born and so I felt at 66 it should be done for the first time and in a grand style” he told us.

At the vehicle presentation ceremony, the comedian shared various gift items to widows in the community, in the spirit of the season to the applause and commendation of several people in the community.
