Chieftains of the newly registered All Peoples’ Congress, APC, in Cross River State, Hillard Eta, Terry Bisong, and Mike Agbeh, have told journalists in Calabar, the state capital that the governorship position in their party for the 2015 CR gubenitorial polls, has been zoned to the Northern Senatorial District of the state in a move seen by watchers of politics as a calculated to beat the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in the state to the tape.
The trio maintained that the APC, has ignored what is regarded in CR political circles as the Calabar/Ogoja Accord, a political contraption that divides CR into Calabar and Ogoja blocs, instead of the three senatorial districts arrangement already in place. They further hinted that while the South and Central senatorial districts have had shots at the top job, the North has not, hence their party’s decision to provide the North the platform for actualising that dream.
Calitown.com investigations point to a straight political fight for the soul of Northern CR between APC and PDP, as the PDP in the state, barring any last minute intrigues should also be preparing to unleash a candidate from the North for the election.
