Calitown.com scooped this morning that two prominent Abuja based sons of Cross River’s Northern Senatorial district are girding their loins to go head to head in the gubenitorial race in the state.
Our source revealed that the two moneybags from the same area have refused to collapse structures for each other. One, a technocrat in the oil sector, retiring from service next year, has in recent times been holding wide political consultations, in one instance he was reported to have arrived Calabar in a chartered flight for extensive consultations. The other, a serving federal legislator is banking on the gains he has made in the course of running and winning an election to see him through. It was further revealed that the legislator’s attempts to the technocrat to collapse structures, has been rebuffed.
There is however an angle that sources are pointing calitown.com to. In the event that both personalities fight to a stand still, an unlikely candidate may emerge and contrary to widely held views, that candidate may not be a former secretary to the state government but a former House of Assembly member now in Abuja.
While political permutations are continuing, it is becoming clear that as usual, the North of the state is finding it increasingly difficult to present a gubenitorial candidate for election.
